"Don't let the bed bugs bite," is becoming more of a warning than a cliche.
Health experts and those in the pest industry say the presence of bed bugs is increasing here, with estimates of cases reported this year alone of several hundred.
Joey Hoke, general pest control supervisor at American Pest Management, said the company has seen an uptick in curative bed bug treatments over the last four years. The company started tracking its bed bug measures in 2008. In its first year, the company did seven treatments. That number jumped to 70 in 2010. Hoke said the number has increased this year too, but he is unsure of how many curative treatments have been performed.
